What is the difference between Acyclovir & Valacyclovir?

Acyclovir & Valacyclovir are nearly identical, however Acyclovir has a shorter duration, which means it must be taken twice daily for effective outbreak management. Valacyclovir, which has a longer duration, stays in your system longer and only needs to be taken once daily.
