How does amoxicillin for UTI work?

Amoxicillin (also known as Augmentin) destroys UTI-causing bacteria by attacking the cell wall that keeps a bacterium structurally intact. The bacteria dies and your body flushes it out. It works quickly so you should feel relief in a day or two, but continue to take your full course of antibiotics to ensure the infection does not return.
