How much Folic Acid do I need?

If you’re pregnant, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends you consume 600 mcg of folic acid daily. Because we only get about 200 mcg of folic acid from food each day, you should take a prenatal vitamin of 400 mcg to make up the difference!*

Some anti-seizure medications can interfere with the absorption of folic acid. If you are taking anti-seizure medication, consult your healthcare provider to ensure you are receiving the appropriate dosage of folic acid.
